Every now and then a client submits a concept that really lights a fire of inspiration. This client trusted my instincts enough to submit only two words, which were extremely simple and straight-forward.... "Duel Monkeys"

Until I created the "Magician", I have only seen "duel figures" where the smaller figure is extremely limited in movement. The "Monkeys" were a perfect opportunity to explore mechanical configurations in ways I had never before attempted.

Animations for "Lil Doo" are as follows:

Moving mouth
Upper lip sneer
Side to side/self centering eyes
Blinkers
Winker
Stickout tongue
Wiggling ears

Animations for "C. Munkee" are as follows:

Moving mouth
Upper lip sneer
Side to side/self centering eyes
Raising eyebrows
Blinkers
Winker
Wiggling nose
Stickout tongue
Wiggling ears

This particular sculpture was fascinating to create from the word go. "C. Munkee and Lil Doo" are the ultimate culmination of my abilities in both mechanical animations and sculpture... I love a good challenge.

The sailor theme came to me while I was watching the classic movie, "Anchors Aweigh", which featured my favorite performers (Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra). Inspiration hit and while there were no BIGHEADS in the original motion picture, the photograph above certainly shows that "C. Munkee and Lil Doo" would have fit right in.

Both sculptures can be operated simultaneously from inside the body cavity. Sculpture was created using the two-stage process.

Client quote:
"Where do I start. This monkes's are the ultimate figure. I have collected for 26 years and have over 40 full size figures and this one is the most unique, creative and magnificent figure I have ever seen. I could never imagine that anyone could be so smart, creative and have the mind to design such a clever mechanisium on Lil doo."
